From preservation, to presentation.
OUR SERVICES
Three connected areas of care, shaped around your object and your goals.
-
Thoughtful care for the object itself.
Every textile presents a different set of questions. The starting point is understanding its materials, condition, and intended future.
USEFUL THINGS TO DISCUSS
Tell us about damage, fragility, or changes you have noticed.
Share the history of the object and any previous treatment.
Discuss what you hope to achieve through conservation.
Best place to start if an object is fragile, damaged, or in need of specialist attention.
-
Support the story. Respect the material.
The way a garment is supported shapes both its presentation and its preservation. Exhibition planning brings these concerns together.
USEFUL THINGS TO DISCUSS
Tell us which garments or textiles you want to display.
Share the exhibition setting, duration, and installation schedule.
Discuss mannequin, mount, and dressing requirements.
Best place to start for an exhibition, a collection display, or a custom support.
-
Preservation continues behind the scenes.
Good storage considers the object, its surroundings, and how it will be accessed. Begin with what you have and how it is currently housed.
USEFUL THINGS TO DISCUSS
Describe the size and types of objects in the collection.
Tell us about your current storage space and housing.
Share your goals for access, handling, and long-term care.
Best place to start when planning housing or reviewing how a collection is stored.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
A few useful questions.
-
Yes. The practice works with museums and private clients. A personal garment or textile can be the starting point for an inquiry, as can a collection.
-
Choose “I’m not sure yet” in the inquiry form. Describe the object and what you would like to do with it; that context helps start the discussion.
-
The object type, approximate age and materials if known, present condition, your goals, location, and any deadline. You can add overview and detail photographs when you send your email.
-
The form starts a project discussion. It does not provide a quote or reserve a treatment date. Scope and timing need to be discussed in relation to the object.
